What makes the Early Childhood Education Program Unique?
Students in the Early Childhood Education Program spend over 440 hours working directly with children from 2.9 to 5.9 years of age over the span of two semesters. Generally our students are in their placements 4 mornings a week, 4 hours a day for 14 weeks. This professionally supervised field work in educational preschool settings helps students build the confidence and skills needed to become a competent early childhood educator. It also allows students the opportunity to make connections between knowledge gained through coursework with hands-on experience. Students who are twenty-one years of age upon graduation can apply to the Department of Early Care and Education for lead teacher certification; those under twenty-one can apply for teacher certification.
