Reading Links

Use the links to go to different websites that have activities and stories that will improve your reading. Try some of the activites from this page such as the Academic Word List. It is a good idea to have an online dictionary open at the same time you are reading, but only stop to look up definitions after you have tried reading. Guessing meaning from context is important to learning new vocabulary words.Try the CDLP site first!

AWL in alphabetical order	The AWL in alphabetical order with link to Cambridge Learner's Dictionary definitions, also links to exercises and other resources.
Academic Word List exercises	Many fill in cloze vocabulary esercises for each Academic Word List sub list and other exercises.
Paul Nation on learning vocabualry	Short article on reading and learning vocabulary research and also teaching considerations-a must read for teachers.
General Service List	A list of the 2,000 plus most frequent English words and exercises, gives students more than 5,000 word lexical itmes if they know these words.
